Tremors from this earthquake were felt at Amboli, Bardoli,
Kadod, Kamrej, Karod,
Kathor, Khakrapar, Khoj-Pardi, Madhi,
Olpad, Rudwada, Timba, Ukai, Uthwada,
Valod and Vyara in
Surat district, Gujarat. In some of these
areas, people asleep at the time, awoke on feeling their beds
shaking and ran outside. It was also felt in parts of the Surat
metropolitan area. People went outdoors in places such as
Bhagala, Chowk
Bazaar, Haripura, Katargram,
Pal, Rander, Sayyadpura, Velacha and Wade Road in the city.
No damage or casualties have be reported as a result of this
earthquake either in the Surat metropolitan area or from other
parts of the district of Surat. The Khakrapar Atomic Power Station
near Surat was also unaffected by the tremor. This earthquake was
also perceptible in parts of the Dangs district in Gujarat. |
