              A light 
              earthquake occurred in Koyna-Warna (Chandoli) region of 
              south-western Maharashtra on 
              21
              
              August
              2007 at  00:45 AM 
              local time and caused  damage in the epicentral region. 
              The earthquake had a  magnitude of ML=4.0 
              and was felt in several parts of the region including as far as 
              the Pune region to the north.  
              
              
               
              The earthquake was centred 
              8 kms N of Gothne (Maharashtra), India, 
              16.2 kms SE of Pachamba (Maharashtra), India, 
              21.7 kms E of Sangammeshwar (Maharashtra), India, 
              26.9 kms S of Koynanagar (Maharashtra), India, 
              47.5 kms WSW of Karad (Maharashtra), India, 
              52.5 kms  NE of Ratnagiri (Maharashtra), India, 
              71.7 kms NW of Kolhapur (Maharashtra), India, 
              159 kms S of Lohegaon International, Pune (Maharashtra), India, 
              236 kms SSE of CS International, Mumbai (Maharashtra), India.

              The wall of a house collapsed at Ruighar in Jawli taluka in Satara 
              district in the tremor and the rest of the house collapsed later 
              resulting in damage of at least 2-3 lakh rupees. The earthquake caused panic in Patan 
              taluka in Satara district and some buildings developed cracks. It was strongly felt in the Shahuwadi taluka of Kolhapur district 
              for 4-5 seconds and sent frightened residents running outdoors. It 
              was also felt strongly at Amba in Kolhapur district accompanied by 
              a loud rumbling noise and in a few instances, kitchen utensils 
              fell from shelves. Tremors were felt very distinctly at Karad, Koynanagar, Patan and Satara. Elsewhere in the 
              region it was felt at Alore, Chiplun, Kasni, Khed, Pophali, Ratnagiri, 
              Sangamnagar, Sangli, Shirala and Warnawati. Light tremors were 
              also felt in multi-storied buildings in Kolhapur and the Pune 
              region. In the latter 
              tremors, were felt in Chinchwad and in Pune city in areas such as Hadapsar, Kothrud, Paud Road, Salisbury 
              Park,
              Shastrinagar and Sinhagad Road.
